Senior Photos: Nick

When you’re a photographer, there are some clients who stick with you and truly change the direction of your career. Nick Flaskamp and his mom Julie are absolutely those clients.

When I was fist starting out Julie gave me a chance to photograph the cast photos for an elementary school play at Armatage Montessori. Nick was in third grade. He’s always been a photogenic kid, and his early pictures are so flipping cute.

Julie continued to have me do photos of kids at Armatage and I followed her as she started producing the spring musicals at Anthony Middle School. She’s an amazing human, who truly gave me an avenue to move towards photography full time. Not only that, but she’s also a firefighter and a substitute teacher. She gives the rest of us a lot to live up to.

This year Nick is a senior, so I asked Julie to dig out all the old photos of him that I had taken. It’s quite a journey.

Because these days Nick is looking quite a bit different from when he was in third grade.

Nick has grown up in his mother’s footsteps: hardworking, dedicated, multi-talented, smart, and kind.

He’s already getting college football offers, which is no surprise since last year he was second in the state for tackles. Plus he holds school records in wrestling. One of the coolest things about my job is seeing people like Nick year after year, and watching them grow into someone amazing.

But we can’t forget his mom Julie. She insisted we take one photo with him holding his childhood blankie “ee,ee” and his football, which is just about the sweetest thing ever. Thank you Julie for letting me photograph you throughout the years. Thank you Nick for being a great kid and best of luck in your last year of high school. I know you will do great things.
